The Sakura Tree, or Cherry Blossom, has been described as being pretty much a national obsession in Japan. Their blooming represents a time of renewal and optimism. And also, because of their brief blooming season, the transience of life, a major theme in Buddhism. All of which sailed straight over the top of our heads, we didn't exactly go to the finest schools round here. But what we did see was the beauty. And thus inspired, we picked up our crayons. This version of the Sakura Tree isn't printed, but is intricately woven to produce the same beautiful pattern in jacquard form.
